The Healthcare Revenue Management Sub-Practice focuses on assisting their clients achieve the highest levels of efficiency, adapt core strategies to deal with dynamic market forces, optimize the deployment of financial resources and manage the risks of ever present 'unknowns'. The Revenue Management encompasses all administrative and clinical functions that contribute to the capture, management, and collection of patient service revenue. It involves core business processes that cross administrative, financial and clinical department boundaries. The Revenue Management begins and ends with the patient. It is optimized and improved through strategic initiatives that are embraced by leadership and consider organizational strategy, people, process and enabling technologies.


Job Summary/Objective

Navigant Consultant, the KLAS award winner for Clinical Documentation, has opening for experienced Inpatient Coding Auditors.

Remote Position and limited travel.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Performs analysis of medical records and provider claims to validate appropriate DRG and ICD-10 code assignment

  • Ensures that assigned codes and DRG are supported by clinical documentation

  • Applies Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting consistently and appropriately

  • Provides written explanations to support or rebut coding recommendations



  • RHIA, RHIT, or CCS credential from AHIMA

  • 3 or more years of Inpatient/DRG coding experience in an acute care setting.

  • ICD10 certification

  • Expertise in IPPS/MS-DRG and APR-DRG methodology and logic

  • Excellent knowledge of Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, AHA Coding Clinics to support audit findings

  • Outstanding computer skills (audit software, excel,powerpoint)

  • Excellent written communication skills

  • Ability to efficiently review large volumes of documents with high comprehension level

  • Secure home office environment, compliant with HIPAA


  • Inpatient Auditing experience

  • Demonstrated ICD-10-CM/PCS coding experience

Mental and Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently communicates with clients and coworkers and must be able to share information effectively

  • Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills

  • Work as a member of a team as well as be a self-motivator with ability to work independently

  • Flexibility and responsiveness in managing multiple projects in sometimes high-pressure situations simultaneously

  • Able to travel via airplane with minimal assistance to client sites across the US and potentially internationally

  • Usually remains stationary for the majority of the day

  • Regularly uses close visual acuity and operates computer equipment to prepare and analyze and transmit data
