Kforce Senior GIS Software Engineer in Castle Rock, Colorado

Kforce is seeking an experienced GIS Engineer to join their team in Castle Rock, Colorado (CO). The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for leading the analysis and design, development, unit testing, maintenance, and support of business applications implemented in software engineering and GIS applications.Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Architects solutions in both enterprise GIS applications and non-spatial solutions

  • Acts as a software lead in design and development of GIS development efforts

  • Applies ESRI suite of technologies to accomplish business and application requirements involved in GIS solutions

  • Acts as technical leader in team-based, Scrum development environment

  • Provides direction & mentoring to less experienced developers, assisting in resolving technical issues and applying best practices

  • Evaluates platforms, software libraries, development tools & processes and makes recommendations that will improve the team's effectiveness and capabilities

  • Develops & communicates best practices covering development technologies, implementation patterns, integration techniques, design options and application security

  • Designs & develops software, which meets the requirements of the business in an effective, sustainable & reliable manner

  • Creates unit tests to check for logic errors prior to formal testing by Quality Assurance staff

  • Adheres to standards & agreed upon design patterns for application development, application design, user interfaces, integration, naming, and testing

  • Analyzes and understands business users' requirements, clarifying inconsistencies, conflicts, or ambiguities, to effectively model business processes in software

  • Corrects identified bugs encountered through development & support processes in both unit testing process and formal Quality Assurance process

  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or a closely related field and a minimum of 8 years of experience in designing, developing, and testing applications developed in a mainstream object-oriented language

  • Sufficient experience may be substituted for a degree

  • ArcGIS Server architecture, knowledge of ArcGIS Web Services, XML, SQL, and JavaScript are required

6 Years' Experience:

  • Developing applications with C# and the Microsoft .Net architecture

  • Software development with ESRI tools including ArcObjects and ArcGIS Server

4 Years' Experience:

  • System integration

  • Application architecture & security

  • Database design

  • Object-oriented design

  • Oracle DBMS and/or Microsoft SQL Server experience

  • ESRI Enterprise Multi-User Geodatabase (SDE) architecture (e.g. relationship classes, versioning, data replication, ETL) as applied to software engineering

  • ESRI Geodatabase (SDE) design & data modeling experience

3 Years' Experience:

  • Web Services (RESTful and SOAP)

  • ESRI's ArcGIS Server

  • ESRI JavaScript API (or other ESRI web API)

  • JavaScript Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)

Additional Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)

  • .Net WCF web services

  • Python, PowerShell

  • ArcGIS Online Platform (WebMaps, Apps, Widget Builds, AppStudio, Collector etc.)

  • GIS spatial analysis are strongly desired

  • Familiarity with JQuery or Dojo JavaScript libraries

  • Pictometry's CONNECT Explorer & GoogleMaps/StreetView API is a plus
