Primary Purpose Position requires an individual that is well experienced in engineering design for their specific discipline as well as other disciplines associated with a project. Person possesses a unique set of skills that have been developed through years of experience in the engineering design business. Person's responsibilities go beyond preparation of deliverables. Their role is to support design activities, supervise and finalize engineering configurations, requirements and deliverables. Reviews general project objectives, definition of scope and development of concepts. Individual develops and monitors project control systems including schedules, man-day budgets, lists, bill of materials, etc. Person supervises an assigned staff of engineering technicians and support personnel. Determine staffing needs and work assignments, perform personnel appraisals, work reviews and assists the staff with goal setting. Person and their staff make decisions that directly affect the success of the project. Working knowledge of the other engineering disciplines for the purpose of coordinating with other departments, engineering managers, field personnel and clients. Will apply this knowledge in reviewing designs and resolving areas of concern.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Position requires significant engineering knowledge and design experience in the Power Generation and Air Quality Control business. Must use knowledge and experience to perform design, coordination, function in field assignment role, or other tasks requiring technical engineering judgment and decisions. Must supervise efforts of other technicians as required, including mentoring, teaching and providing feedback on their performance.
Must be capable of working with multiple software packages such as AutoCAD, Microstation, PDS, PDMS and/or others. Must be able to work in an organization with a diverse culture and diverse career opportunities within multiple Energy related projects such as Combined Cycle and Coal-Fired generation Plants and Air Quality Projects. Many of these projects may require travel and/or assignments both domestic and international. Typical responsibilities with this assignment consist of but not limited to:
● Equipment/plant and piping layout/modeling and engineering drawing development in conformance with the project and company standards/specifications, applicable industry codes and design criteria.
● Creation and development of piping isometrics, bill of materials and the checking thereof
● Review and development of P&IDs
● Review of vendor information
● Providing technical support to all disciplines in the project team
● Be able to start from conception and provide detailed layout of equipment and piping as end product
● Field walk downs and data gathering at Client facilities, determining tie-in locations and field routings
Minimum Qualifications 15 years experience with Assoc. of Applied Science Degree or minimum 17 years experience with Drafting Diploma.
