POSITION SUMMARY:Under limited supervision, assists in the planning, forecasting,implementation, and identification of resource requirements for networksystems of varying (moderate to high) complexity. Follows corporatestandards, develops and implements network enhancements and makesrecommendations for improvement. Responsible for implementation of approvednetwork architecture and designs. Assists in staff development efforts.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance thecustomer experience.Participates in network planning, network architecture design and engineering.Integrates communication architectures, topologies, hardware,software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into completenetwork configurations.Evaluates new products, performs network problem resolution.Assists in the development and documentation of technical standards.Implements approved methods of procedure.Implements and assists in designing corporate standards, develops andimplements network enhancements and makes recommendations for improvement.Works on projects/systems/issues of varying complexity surrounding networkplanning, configuration and optimization.Provides tier support across organizations.Works on one or more projects as a project team member, regularly as aproject team lead.Coaches less experienced staff.Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, asapplicable.Knows, understands and follows company policy.Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.JOB REQUIREMENTS:Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate withemployees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and bywritten communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional mannerAbility to use personal computer and software applicationsAbility to work in a team environmentIntermediate knowledge of related industry specifications and standardsIEEE, ANSI, Physical Media (Multimode Fiber, Singlemode Fiber,UTP, etc.), bridging, switching, routing, ethernet and transporttechnologies and protocolsIntermediate Knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocolsand network topologyIntermediate Knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI ModelIntermediate knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support thecurrent operationsIntermediate Knowledge of basic network devices and basic network appliancesIntermediate knowledge of network designing software, such as VisioAbility to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learnnew technology quicklyAbility to use the following office equipment telephone, copier, fax,and calculatorAbility to use personal computer and software applicationsKnowledge of Microsoft OfficeEDUCATION:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, orrelated field or equivalent work experienceRELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:Data network experience 3 yearsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge of company products and servicesCERTIFICATION:Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP or CCIP)Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco,Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc)WORKING CONDITIONS:Office EnvironmentMay work in Network Lab environment24X7 Network Operations environmentOccasional travel as requiredEmployer's Job# 194338BRPlease visit job URL for more information about this opening and to view EOEstatement.
