Job Details:

  • Position Purpose: Responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness in but not limited to ED, Day Surgery, Med-Surg, Special Care, OB, Lab, Cardiopulmonary, and Diagnostic Imaging, preventing cross infection, minimizing air borne bacteria and ensuring a aseptic environment. Essential Functions and Basic Duties: Maintain facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through washing and cleaning Use safety precautions in all housekeeping services. Operate various mechanized cleaning equipment, such as vacuums and polishers. Responsible for the disposal of trash, waste and other disposable materials. Empty soiled laundry bins Re-stock clean linens, towels, etc. Must handle various cleaning solvents and supplies. Dust furniture, light fixtures, window sills, etc. Clean sinks, mirrors, commodes, and showers within the facility Check all vacant rooms daily to keep fresh. Report any needed repairs immediately to supervisor. Provides support to the department supervisor with specific duties. Acts as liaison to hospital staff and vendors when department supervisor is absent. Positive and supportive team member to the Environmental Services Department. Participates in interdepartmental process improvements and process evaluation efforts. Attends staff meetings. Able to operate computer to take online training and to read emails. Interaction with other departments in solving problems and working as a team. Demonstrates a professional and caring attitude. Strives to ensure continual compliance with Department and Hospital Policies and Procedures and State/Federal Regulations. Can identify and access system to report abuse of employees and/or patients. Adheres to policies and procedures for infection control, safety and risk management. Perform other duties as assigned. Secondary Duties: · Demonstrates 100% commitment to performing according to the CHOICE values of TMH and representing the organization in a positive and professional manner. · Establishes and maintains effective communication and good working relationships with all co?workers. · Adheres to TMH and department dress code policies and procedures. · Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; self-motivated; manages activity and time. · Completes annual education, training, in-service, and certification requirements; attends departmental staff meetings or reads meeting minutes. · Maintains regulatory requirements. · Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. · Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated times. · Actively participates in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. · Strives to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state and federal regulations and policies. · Follows policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management to ensure a safe environment for patients, public and staff. Qualifications: Education/Certifications: High School Diploma or GED Valid current driver's license Knowledge Required: Experience Required: Housekeeping experience preferred. Skills/Abilities: o Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions. o Must be able to correctly measure cleaning solutions. Work Environment: Equipment Used: Vacuum cleaners, carpet shampoo machines, high speed buffer, washers, dryers, cleaning carts and linen carts.
