AECOM is seeking a Director of Business Development to join the Denver, Colorado office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists our Business Unit Leaders in identifying, pursuing and winning long term, large business opportunities (projects and programs) by networking with clients as well as within the industry to develop business relationships

  • Convert opportunities to active projects through collaborative interaction and teamwork with the Market Segment Leader, Principals-in-Charge, Marketing Mangers / Proposal Coordinators, and other functional areas of B+P

  • Market both global and local solutions to customers in our targeted industries and geographies

  • Creates and build client relationships while sponsoring interaction to obtain projects

  • Develops and maintains networks of contacts within the industry

  • Communicates client knowledge to marketing to aid with strategizing on proposal content to address client concerns

  • Makes business decisions with understanding of procedures, company policies and business practices to achieve business results and meet established deadlines

  • Represents the firm at community functions and throughout the bid process

  • Partners with management to resolve problem areas in project delivery

  • Seeks out new sectors of business by following industry trends

  • Develops business geographically and/or by business line; well versed in market place and competitive environment. Work with business unit leadership to develop strategic market targets and approach

  • Maintain and report complete, accurate and timely records of all individual activities via Salesforce

  • Coordinate and collaborate with Regional Directors, Market Segment Leaders, Principals-in-Charge, Proposal Coordinators and other BDDs on leads, sales strategies, communications, and opportunities

  • BDD position will have a specific shared sales goal target contribution for overall sector business plan

  • Maintain regular and accurate accounting of time and expenses working within established budget protocols

  • Maintain annual calendar of events coordinated with business plan and performance requirements. Lead pro-active planning of activation strategies around key industry events and partnerships

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • 10+ years of experience working in the design and construction industry, including 5+ years of working in Business Development

  • Proven track record of developing effective proposals and strategies that win business

  • Solid network of contacts and customers that can be leveraged to AECOM and Market Sector benefit

  • Business awareness and acumen to develop clients in a variety of market sectors

  • Proven track record of working effectively with organizations having complex matrix structures and diverse workforces. Ability to work with multiple contacts at multiple levels rather than relying upon a single champion

  • A professional attitude and approach with personal charisma

  • Working knowledge of A/E/C concepts

  • A high energy, outgoing and self-motivated individual

  • Articulate in both written and oral communications

  • Excellent new business skills in closing high-budget, solutions-based opportunities

  • Ability to understand the importance of effective teamwork

  • Leadership and communication skills to drive a multifunctional team through a consultative selling process

  • Ability to gain access and effectively interact at high levels within client organizations

  • Ability to understand B+Ps capabilities very quickly in order to identify and capitalize on client needs as well as provide feedback on client and market demands

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in related field

  • Experience working with the Salesforce software platform
