As a National Bank Examiner/Bank Examiner (Asset Management Lead Expert Support), you will assist the Asset Management Lead Expert in providing expert advice and support to the bank supervision functions involving fiduciary activities. *Midsize & Community Bank Supervision*

Northeastern District and Western District

For the Western District, the position may be filled in Denver, CO, or any field/satellite office location in the Western District.

For Northeastern District, the position may be filled in New York, NY, or any field/satellite office location in the Northeastern District

  • This position is a Step 2 level position within the NB-V pay band. Step 2 level positions are distinguished by additional job complexity, responsibility, and advanced skill levels required by the work.

Responsibilities

As a National Bank Examiner/Bank Examiner (Asset Management Lead Expert Support), you will:

  • Assist the asset management lead expert in providing advice to district management, subject matter experts and specialists on matters involving asset management activities such as fiduciary services, transfer agent, investment advisor, sales of retail non-deposit investment products, and custodial services.
  • Lead or assist in asset management examinations at challenging and complex financial institutions including thrifts and community, midsize and large banks.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor supervisory activities for asset management activities including assessing risk, developing supervisory strategies, determining the scope of supervisory activities, managing teams of assisting personnel, preparing reports of activities, and developing responses to address risks.
  • Conduct or participate in discussions with bank management on findings and recommendations. Prepare communications to foster positive changes within the bank.
  • Provide leadership and training to other examiners and instruct at formal schools in asset management and fiduciary risk management.

Qualifications

In order for your application to be considered, you must meet the following requirements within 60 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-IV band level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:

  • Evaluating the level of asset management risk associated with fiduciary services, investment advisor activities, sales of retail non-deposit investment products, or custodial services; OR
  • Evaluating a financial institution’s compliance with asset management related laws, regulations, and guidance; OR
  • Evaluating the financial institution’s asset management risk management systems (such as account administration, investment decisions and advice, and operational control activities) used to identify, measure, monitor and control risks
