SR BENEFITS SPECIALIST (1700705)Position PurposeThis position reports to the Manager, Global Health, Welfare andRetirement Plans and Programs, and is responsible for the administration ofall Woodward health, welfare and retirement plans with a primary focus ondomestic locations. Other members of the benefits team (BenefitAdministrators) report to this position.Essential FunctionsEnsures the maintenance of accurate benefits enrollment records in the HCMSsystem; ensures benefit vendors are notified of changes in member status;supports the Benefit Administrators with problem-resolution between membersand benefit providers, including physicians, clinics, pharmacies,hospitals, and our Third Party Administrator (TPA).Supervises Benefit Administrators located throughout the United States.Maintains proper administration of regulatory and compliance issues;performs required internal auditing activities (i.e. member healthpremiums, eligibility information, FSA, student status) and ensuresmember records are updated as required.Participates, and may lead, in Woodward Benefit Team meetings and assistsin the development of standardized processes to ensure consistent benefitsadministration across all locations.Plans, administers, and executes benefits activities throughout the yearon a timely basis, meeting all established deadlines.Assures strict adherence to established work processes and benefit planprovisions for consistent benefits administration.Assists in the management, administration, and design and monitoring ofhealth, welfare and retirement plans. Assists in conducting on-going relatedanalytical work.Communicates effectively with Human Resources and plant site Human ResourceManagers and consultants regarding benefit issues.Works closely with our health, welfare and retirement plan providers andservice partners (as well as consultants) to assure optimum levels ofperformance.Works with insured program brokers on developing our renewal strategy.Works closely with our outsourced "benefit back office" consultants on ourprograms; in particular FMLA, short-term disability and long-termdisability programs.Collaborates on the annual profit planning process.Maintains and ensures all benefit contracts are up-to-date and all plandescriptions are current and compliant with regulatory requirements.Keeps current on changing health, welfare and retirement plan changingtrends and compliance issues. Other FunctionsAssists in the Open Enrollment process.Assists in the development and review of benefits communication materials.Participates in Benefits project teams as required.Performs other work assignments as appropriately assigned by leaderProvides support for acquisition and divestiture activities.QualificationsKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesExtensive knowledge and experience with health and welfare plan administrationand compliance activities.Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills.Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).Ability to handle multiple projects effectively; strong planning andimplementation skills; strong attention to detail.Ability to manage difficult customer-service situations.Solid personal characteristics such as assertiveness, a high level ofintegrity, good judgment and objectivity.Advanced understanding of HCMS (HRIS) and relationship and requirementsfor the health and welfare and retirement plans administration.Inquisitive and resourceful problem solving skills. Education or FormalTrainingBachelor's Degree in a related field required.CEBS coursework is desired. Experience RequiredMinimum 10 years experience in Health and Welfare plan administrationrequired.Experience with self-funded plans is desirable, as is prior exposure toworking with brokers and consultants.Supervisory experience required.
