Western State Colorado University is searching to fill a full-timePipe/Mechanical Trades I or II (plumbing) position in the Facilities Servicesdepartment. The duties include: maintain & manage operation of electrical,pneumatic and DDC control systems; perform system diagnostics, scheduling,equipment optimization & campus energy monitoring; identify potential problems& correct malfunctioning systems; install, repair & service equipment;maintain & operate systems to original test-&-balance design parameters;develop & implement preventative maintenance programs; propose & assesssystems by calculating loads, sizing pumps, fans, heat exchangers, motors,etc.; review architectural & engineering designs; inspect contractors' workduring construction; service & repair refrigerators, ice machines, & coolingequipment, commercial kitchen appliances & scientific equipment; recognize &report materials that contain asbestos.Minimum required experience: Two years (for level I) or four years (for levelII) of progressively responsible work involving commercial plumbing as well asthe installation and/or operation and maintenance of commercial scale boilers.Experience installing or maintaining both hydronic and steam systems, as wellas operational familiarity with commercial, large scale HVAC systems is alsorequired. Part-time experience will be prorated. Substitution for experience:Successful completion of a formalized plumbing, pipefitting, steam fitting, orheating, ventilation and air conditioning apprenticeship program, or higherlevel, non-correspondence course work in the same fields from an accreditedvocational school or university may substitute for the experience on ayear-for-year basis. An unofficial copy of transcripts or certificates mustbe attached to qualify for this substitution. Colorado journey-level plumberlicense; or must be able to complete within 24 months.Position is a full-time regular appointment. This is an essential services,non-exempt positon, eligible for overtime and on-call pay. Beginning wage isdependent upon minimum qualifications: $20.52 hourly for level I; $23.71hourly for level II.
