Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

Join Oracle's Linux Engineering team. Our team patchesand enhances the Linux kernel, and promotes the adoption of Linux at Oracle andin the industry in general. Our flagship offering is the Unbreakable EnterpriseKernel (UEK), a Linux kernel which combines mainline performance withenterprise stability. UEK has secured world record database benchmarks forOracle and runs at the core of our flagship engineered system, the Exadata. OurUnbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK) is refreshed from's Linux gittree every every 18 months, which means all OL patches are relevant to mainlineLinux, and vice versa. Unlike other enterprise distributions which freeze on akernel release for 7-10 years, Oracle's UEK maintains a dynamic conversationwith upstream Linux and allows for continuous flow of features and enhancementsbetween our kernel developers and Linux.

Do you have experience with the internals of the TCP/IPnetwork stack?

Can you diagnose network problems via wireshark dumps?We're looking for experienced kernel and networking engineers to join our LinuxKernel Networking team.

We're looking for a developer who can help optimize theLinux network stack, both for ethernet and for Infiniband applications. Strongknowledge of Linux kernel development practices and git are a bonus, but anyexperience with UNIX-type network stacks and with network device drivers wouldmake for a strong candidate. This role will involve development and bug-fixingfor elements of the Linux Network stack, network device drivers, theOpenFabrics Infiniband stack, and RDS, the Reliable Datagram protocol.

The Oracle Linux IB team works with device drivers andupper-layer protocols of the Openfabrics stack. Infiniband and RDMA are key tothe performance of Oracle's engineered systems, enabling the blazing fastperformance of our flagship Exadata engineered system.
