The pre-authorization coordinator will work proactively with selected providers in the Montrose area. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Utilizing various electronic medical record (EMR) programs to retrieve patient orders and medical notes for upcoming procedures, verification of patients' insurance policy(ies), benefits verification, procedure pre-authorization, scheduling notification of patient financial responsibility (if applicable) and referral to financial counseling/Patient Financial Services. On a daily basis, the pre-authorization coordinator will work closely with the physicians, nurses, insurance companies, admissions and patient financial services staff. This position requires strong self motivation and the ability to prioritize workload and and budget time wisely with minimal supervision.
a) The Pre-Auth Coordinator will accurately register the patient to provide a computer generated account for departments' use, to identify the patient for the capability of orders to be placed, charges to be posted and clinical documentation.
b) The record created will be distributed to the clinical departments, insurance department, the medical records department, and physicians' office.
c) The Pre-Auth Coordinator calls insurances to obtain authorizations, benefits and eligibility; is able to collect payments post payments, and do routine cashier functions.
d) The Pre-Auth Coordinator is the liaison between the financial departments, the clinical departments, and the local physicians.
e) The Pre-Auth Coordinator reports to the Admissions Director.
a) Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
b) Training & Experience: Previous registrations experience/Medical Terminology, Customer service background/ multi-task background.
c) Skills: Proficient typing-keyboarding skills required / computer literate / spelling proficienty / legible handwriting / must be able to speak and read the English language at an acceptable level / good communication skills / works well with public / medical terminology / interpersonal skills / problem solving / prioritizing skills / detail oriented.
