City of Pueblo Crime Analyst in Pueblo, Colorado

The City of Pueblo is accepting applications for a FLSA exempt position of Crime Analyst through September 17, 2017. Under the limited supervision of a civilian manager or command staff member, this position develops, analyzes, and maintains systems to extract data from police reports, crime reports, traffic records, files, and variety of sources to ensure accurate and up-to-date statistical and narrative analysis. This position requires considerable independence and initiative. Typically requires working a standard 40-hour workweek. The position would make judgments based upon crime analysis and bring forward recommendations to department members in order to combat crime problems. The Crime Analyst has extensive contact with various law enforcement officials and agencies, the public, and City departments.Duties and Responsibilities: Collects, collates, analyzes, reports and disseminates information concerning crime trends and other external forces, and of information concerning internal mechanisms of the department.Analyzes workload, vehicle stops, accidents and other related duties.Creates department intelligence as analysis of crime series.Uses available databases/programs to accomplish various analytical techniques and implements a broad perspective approach to problem identification and problem solving.Uses analytical skills to draw and prove conclusions from data.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Police Division organizational structure, goals, objectives, and procedures;Research methods and statistical analysis;Principles and applications of mathematics and statistics;Principles and practices of criminal justice operations from basic police/criminal interactions up to and including prosecutorial, imprisonment and parole issues;Data collection and analysis procedures, legal research and statutory construction, privacy issues and criminal history restrictions / confidentiality This job description is an overview and is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
