Transportation Technology Center Field Inspector , BOE in Pueblo, Colorado

Title: Field Inspector, Bureau of ExplosivesLocation: Eastern CanadaPrimary Duties:This position reports to the General Manager (GM) of the Bureau ofExplosives (BOE). The incumbent is responsible for performing qualityassurance audits and technical inspections of railroad tank care facilities toensure they are in compliance with the AAR Manual of Standards and RecommendedPractices (MSRP) M-1002 and M01003, and 49 Code of Federal Regulations(CFR). The incumbent is responsible for recommending initialcertification, recertification, or continued certification based ondetailed objective evidence reports. The incumbent must maintain acomprehensive understanding of the AAR MSRP M-1002, AAR MSRP M-1003, andthe 40 CFR Parts 171-180. The incumbent must have the ability to writedetailed technical reports. The incumbent must have the ability tocommunicate promptly when issues arise, and is expected to raise concerns tothe GM of the BOE and AAR staff when necessary. This position requirestraveling an estimated 40 weeks per year. The incumbent must complete thefollowing within one year of hiring and maintain thereafter: Obtain AAR M-1003 Quality Assurance Auditor certification which includesperforming Quality Assurance Audits of Tank Car Facilities and preparing therequired report. Obtain AAR M-1002 Inspector Certification which includes performingTechnical Inspections of Tank Car Facilities and preparing the requiredreport.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor s degree in a related filed and two (2) years railroad relatedexperience involving audit and/or inspection responsibilities, or six(6) years of related experience involving audit and inspectionresponsibilities. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.Two (2) years of public speaking and/or training/instructionexperience required. Must have thorough knowledge of email software andMicrosoft Office software. Must have the ability to adapt to technologicalprograms and devices. Incumbent must have a basic knowledge of 49 CFR Parts171-180, AAR MSRP M-1002, AR MSRP M-1003, and AAR Office and FieldManuals. This position requires the ability to read and interpret data,ability to walk in an industrial and/or railroad environment, includinguneven surfaces such as ballast.
