Job Title: Thrift Store Manager (TSM)Employment Status: Full-time (36 hours per week), year-roundReports to: LiftUp Executive Director (ED)Supervision Exercised: Supervises Thrift Store (TS) staff,volunteers, and community service workersSalary: $15-$17hour+, depending on qualificationsBenefits: Paid holidays, vacation, sick days, insuranceGeneral Description of Position:Under the guidance of the ED, the TSM will oversee daily operations in thestore, supervising staff and volunteers and fostering a positive,customer-friendly environment. The TSM will be responsible for training andoverseeing TS employees and volunteers and ensuring that all workers adhere toLiftUp policies and procedures. The TSM will oversee merchandising in thestore, ensuring that shelves are tidy, merchandise is displayed in anappealing way, and stock is rotated regularly. Duties will include assistingcustomers and operating the cash register. Some time may be spent working inthe DC on an as-needed basis, sorting donations and greeting the public. TheTSM will communicate with the Volunteer Coordinator (VC) regarding TSvolunteer needs. The TSM will communicate/collaborate with the OfficeManager (OM) regarding TS marketing, as the OM will execute marketingideas.The TSM will recruit, select, orient, and train employees in theTS, and will prepare a work schedule for TS staff and volunteers two weeksin advance to ensure adequate coverage. The TSM will work with the DonationCenter Manager (DCM) to coordinate the schedule of staff and volunteerswho work in both the TS and the DC. The TSM will order and maintainsupplies, fixtures and equipment for TS. The TSM will discuss with the EDthe creation of and ensure the adherance to LiftUp's annual retail budgetand retail policies. The TSM will ensure that TS work environment is safe andclean. The TSM will work with the DCM to ensure pricing of donated items is inline with LiftUp standards and policies. The TSM will research thrift storeprices to ensure LiftUp is competetive, while remaining loyal to ourcustomers who are in need. The TSM will collaborate with the DCM to determinethe timing of items needed in the TS. Any dispute between the DCM and TSM willEssential Duties:Foster a positive, customer-friendly environment in the TSRecruit, select, orient, and train employees and orient and train volunteersCoach, counsel and discipline TS staff and volunteersMaintain a clean, safe environment in the TSMaintain the stability and reputation of the TS by complying with legalrequirementsRespond to incoming TS phone calls, emails, and inquiries from the publicin a timely, professional mannerProvide the ED with information necessary to order TS supplies, fixtures andequipment in a timely fashion.Oversee merchandising in the store, ensuring that items are displayed in anattractive fashion and merchandise is rotated on a regular basisProvide back-up assistance in the DC as needed - sorting donations andgreeting donorsProficiency with Microsoft Word and ExcelMaintain and update the TS Point of Sale systemMinimum Requirements: Prepare monthly report detailing Thrift Store sales Attend monthly staff meetings and volunteer meetings Assist with other duties and special projects as assigned Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions Excellent interpersonal skills and positive customer service attitude Ability to establish priorities and work independently with minimalsupervision Retail experience and/or education and training to meet the requirementsof position Ability to meet deadlines and act with sense of urgency and purpose Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time Ability to speak Spanish preferred, but not required Physical ability to lift and carry items weighing more than 25 pounds
