Our goal is to becomefamiliar with all aspects of our clients operations, not just theinformation needed for the year-end audit. As CPAs and consultants we need tostay in touch with them throughout the year so we can offer solutions tochallenges as they arise. Our clients benefit from a close personal connectionwith a team of professionals devoted to government agencies.At CLA, we want to bring on professionals who understand municipalities,counties, and special districts and can deliver solutions to our clients. Weare currently searching for an Controllerto primarily serve our northernDenver clients in our BizOps (Outsourcing) team.Work Activities & AccountabilitiesThe incumbent is accountable for acting as and managing the designatedfunction(s) for the client. S/he is also accountable for identifyingand implementing best practices related to the service(s) provided to addvalue to the client. Develops full knowledge of GAAP (FASB/SFAS/GASB)and deep understanding of financial and operational aspects of his/herspecificController:Records and analyzes client's financial information. Analyzes andinterprets financial information that client leaders need to make soundbusiness decisions.Prepares financial reports for other groups (creditors, regulatoryagencies, and tax authorities, and more).Reviews and monitors costs inherent in the business.Schedules expenditures, analyzes variances, and may identify correctiveactions when necessary. Ability to independently prepare financialstatements.Technical Knowledge:Maintains knowledge of client's organizational policies and procedures,federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of accounting softwarepackages.Organizational Interfaces:The Controller reports directly to the Outsourcing Principal in charge of theclient. S/he regularly interacts with Managing Principals, industryPrincipals, service Principals, and other functional groups within CLA andat the client site. S/he supervises accounting services staff which mayinclude CLA accounting services staff, client accounting services staff,or both. S/he will typically spend 90% of time on client assignments(majority at client locations).
