About Our Job

Park Seasonal Laborer positions perform a wide variety of maintenance duties in support of various construction, maintenance, repair, and operational functions for Denver Parks & Recreation's network of facilities. These positions will work for one or more of the following functional teams: painting, carpentry, graffiti removal, plumbing and electrical.

This position will report to the Morrison Headquarters at 300 Union Avenue, Morrison, CO.

The incumbent must be willing to work emergency hours; weekends and holidays as needed

Additionally, the incumbent must be willing to work outside in potentially inclement weather conditions

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs unskilled, light to heavy physical labor on a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair projects that involves physical exertion and the use of manual tools and limited use of small power operated tools.

  • Assists skilled trade workers by performing minor repairs to buildings and facilities including painting, plastering, carpentry, and minor plumbing repairs.

  • Performs minor repairs to equipment such as portable paint spray rigs and pressure washers.

  • Operates light weight equipment powered by small engines used for maintenance, cleaning, and minor construction projects.

  • Performs pre-trip inspection on equipment for such things as fluid levels, leaks, condition of hoses and belts, tire pressure, brake lights, and related areas and secures, cleans and cares for all tools and equipment needed for job assignments.

  • Performs exterior maintenance duties including graffiti removal, painting, HVAC equipment cleaning and cleaning of exterior lighting fixtures.

  • Observes all common safety practices associated with operating small engines, hand and power tools and other work related equipment.

  • Utilizes hand operated equipment such as power saw, jig saw, power drill, hand sander, paint spray rigs, and Hotzy pressure washer.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

This is an on-call position which will work no more than 39 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits. On-call positions may have routine or variable work schedules. This position will work an average of 39 hours per week, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. This is a seasonal position that will work for approximately 6 months during the busy season.

About You

We are looking for hard-working and reliable individuals, who are highly conscious of safety considerations and can successfully work independently as needed. Incumbents should enjoy working outside, working on a wide range of equipment and tools and must be able to work holidays and weekends, as needed. Additionally, our ideal candidate will have:

  • Various maintenance, motorized equipment, and hand powered tool experience

  • Experience with one or more of the following functional areas in facilities construction and maintenance:

  • Painting

  • General labor

  • Carpentry

  • Graffiti removal
